GIVING IS THRIFTY

Today is a day to celebrate the great civil rights movement leader Martin Luther King. It's also Benjamin Franklin's (the American apostle of thrift) birthday, once an occasion to promote thrift and the "waste not, want not" ethos.

From the early part of the last century until 1966, Americans celebrated 'National Thrift Week," and there's a movement afoot to bring it back.

In the spirit of that movement today would then mark the first day of Thrift Week! Go HERE to read more about this movement and HERE to "Like" them on Facebook.

Today's theme: Giving is Thrifty!
Therefore, your thrift tip of the day is: Volunteer! This MLK Jr. Day, join thousands of others who will be giving their time, effort, and resources to serve others.
