AMC writes~
"When selling my condo, the buyers asked for a $100 credit to replace the missing vertical blinds for the sliding glass door. I denied the credit and indicated I would replace them myself within 3 days. I went to Home Depot and found the blinds for $21.97 – good deal, right? Well, when I took them to the self-checkout station, they rang up for ONE CENT! That’s right, one penny! $0.01 was my total.
Because I am an honest person, I notified the self-checkout clerk/person that there seemed to be a problem. However, instead of listening to me, she proceeded to make assumptions that I was just having trouble with this large item and I was just a customer needing help 'bagging' the blinds!
She proceeds to begin to instruct me (in a very condescending manner, I might add) on how to do so. Irritated at this point that I'm trying to be considerate of the potential error and is obviously NOT paying attention I finally stated “NO, I don’t need help bagging. This rang up for one cent. Do you want me to pay one cent or are you going to help me with the correct price?” More drama ensued, and to make a long story short, I paid one cent!
So I saved us $99.99, woo-hoo!! Although an exhausting experience, I guess it eventually does pay to be honest!"
Way to go! Thanks, AMC for sharing your story - I just love it when "justice" prevails!
